Sealants are used to protect your teeth from decay. Some people have deep grooves, or fissures, in their molars and premolars which can be difficult to keep clean. Sealants form a smooth barrier over the fissures and make it easier to keep teeth clean. They can last many years but can wear over time.
Sealants are useful for children, as they can be applied easily and without discomfort.
