Mouth Guards

Patients who play contact sports frequently request mouth guards to protect their teeth. It is important to have a professionally made mouth guard because it will be custom-made, fitting exactly over the teeth and gums. Cheaper shop-bought kits often fit badly, can be uncomfortable to wear and, crucially, may not offer the same level of protection.

Mouth guards for younger people may need replacing regularly due to growth and movement of the teeth. Adults may not need mouth guards replacing quite so often, but as with any other protective sports equipment, they may get worn or damaged.

Mouth guards are not available on the NHS. They can be made in a range of colours and patterns. Your dentist will be able to give you a quote.
